Much like travel, life is a journey with exciting adventures, memorable experiences and many lessons learned. We’ve spent the past 8 years abroad and couldn’t be happier with our decision. We’ve seen the world and the diversity of our experience has opened our eyes and taught us so much. But as the years pass, any couple faces challenges and even the best relationships often arrive at a point of inflection.
Love takes on many forms and sometimes the best, but most difficult decision a couple can make is to accept when it changes. In 2018, we made the difficult decision to end our relationship as a couple, but we continue to be best friends. After 12 years together, we formed an unbreakable bond and will continue to be a family, albeit unconventional.
We didn’t make a big deal about the end of our relationship on our blog because Two Bad Tourists was never really about us. Instead, it was a way to connect with other LGBT+ people with a passion for travel and simply share cool travel experiences, provide useful advice and on occasion, maybe inspire someone to make a change or strive for a travel goal once thought to be out of sight. We didn’t start the blog to tell our story but instead to help you create yours.
We’re lucky to still have each other and excited to see where life takes us. We have zero regrets. We wouldn’t change anything. And we hope our story continues to inspire you in even the simplest of ways.
Since we still share a passion for travel and take many trips together, Two Bad Tourists lives on and we continue to encourage you to explore the world and never be afraid of who you are. The only constant in life in change. But change is not always bad and sometimes brings new opportunities. So, whether you travel alone, with a friend or a significant other, remember to be thankful for what you have and continue to seek out those new opportunities. We recognize that travel is a privilege but it’s also a way to learn about different cultures, open hearts and minds and most certainly, a way to build unforgettable memories.
As always, be sure to keep up-to-date on our blog and all our social media channels with the latest LGBT+ travel news, advice and more. Until then, join the adventure, see the world and most importantly, safe travels.
