While you might consider Washington DC to be a place enveloped by politics and void of entertainment, there are plenty of gay bars and clubs. While it might not be the gay mecca of New York or San Francisco, you won’t be short of a place to relax with a beer and a boy after a day soaking up the historical sites of this truly unique city and the many Washington gay bars.
Nellie’s Sports Bar
A gay sports bar might seem like an anomaly but this bar is more than American football served over some tepid beer. Tuesday night sees the bar taken over by karaoke and Wednesdays is quiz night when the brains of Washington come to battle it out over a few drinks. The bar also serves typical sport-viewing foods such as chicken wings, burgers, and nachos.
The Eagle brand is popular across America and the vibe in replicated here in their Washington gay bars. The crowd is a bit more mixed than in other Eagle bars but the emphasis is still on a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and, of course, men in leather.
