Gay Iceland: Your Guide to Reykjavik Pride
When we first arrived in Reykjavik, it felt oddly familiar yet wholly distinct. Though Iceland is a European country, something about its capital city just doesn’t feel European. Perhaps it’s the way the sun hangs oddly in the sky not quite right with the time of day. Or the iconic use of colorful corrugated iron in the buildings and houses. Or how it feels more like a small winter ski town in the mountains than a capital metropolis where almost two-thirds of the country’s 325,000 inhabitants live. Whatever it may be, Reykjavik has a remarkable charm born from its European ties just as well from its island isolation, but still a charm all its own.
Gay Stockholm: Your Guide to Stockholm Gay Pride
Royal Palaces, Nobel Prize ceremonies, thousands of islands, mesmerizing architecture, and the ABBA Museum. Stockholm is a gorgeous waterfront city that literally has it all. When we first visited Sweden’s capital last year, we were immediately taken by its undeniable charm. As the country’s largest city with a population creeping above 2 million, this Scandinavian metropolis is a must visit when touring Europe. Gamla Stan, the city’s Old Town, is a beautiful place to stroll around, grab a bite to eat, and admire the colorfully detailed buildings splashing up along the city’s never ending coastline.
A Guide to Sitges Gay Pride: Spain’s Top Gay Destination
Sitges City Guide
Sitges is one of our favorite spots in all of Spain. Just 40 minutes south of Barcelona by train, this little town is a must see when in the Catalonia capital either for a day trip or even staying a for a few nights. For a small town, the nightlife is fantastic and reminiscent of Lisbon’s drinking-in-the-street style outside of the local bars. There’s also plenty of shopping to do, long stretches of beaches to tan on, and a slew of restaurants to choose from. Everything is centrally located and easily walkable or accessible via bike.
Dresden Gay Pride: What You Might Not Know
We recently had the opportunity to check out the Saxony region of Germany for the first time during CSD Dresden, or Christopher Street Day. This was our first 2014 gay pride event where we got to continue promoting the #mygaypride campaign during our summer of pride and we had a great time doing it!
So, how does Dresden Pride measure up?

#mygaypride: Show Your Love, Share Your Pride This Summer
We’re excited to announcement a new campaign this summer. Last year, we celebrated Gay Pride month in June by asking our followers to vote to send us to a gay pride event in Europe. As a result, we attended the gay pride march in Lisbon and had a blast.
This year we are expanding the campaign and launching #mygaypride – a celebration of our summer of pride. This year we’ll be attending gay pride events across Europe in Germany, Spain, Sweden and beyond to promote the campaign and share our version of pride through photos, travel tips and meeting new friends.
The Gayest Weekend in Antwerp, Belgium
As we exited the central train station to step into the city of Antwerp for the first time, we felt immediately wrapped in the colorful embrace of a multitude of rainbow flags. We have been to a fair number of gay pride events over the past two years – four last year and five this year which we later learned was unimpressive compared to the ten plus pride events another American expat living in Germany had attended this year – but we have never seen a city so decked out in rainbows before. You really would have thought Rainbow Brite and her gayer-than-unicorns-sidekick-horse, Starlite, had been hired to decorate the city. This, of course, put smiles on our faces as we entered Antwerp having been invited by the Flanders tourism board.
TwoBadTourists Talk: Lisbon’s Gay Pride March
If you recall back in June, we had a campaign going on TwoBadTourists.com for our followers to vote on which Gay Pride event to send us. Between London, Paris, Barcelona, and Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city won! We chose these four cities because they were all celebrating their Pride weekends on the same days. Or so we thought… We were in for a bit of a surprise when we arrived in Lisbon only to find out that it was in fact, not Gay Pride weekend! Whoops! However, they were still having a Gay Pride March which is what we mistook for the actual Gay Pride weekend. What can we say? Our Portuguese is a little rusty!
So watch our latest TwoBadTourists Talk video as we start from the back of the march and head all the way to the front, stopping to check out some interesting entertainment! Don’t forget to Subscribe to TalkBadToursist Talk Here or at the end of the video!
Vienna’s Gay Pride Festivities
If you haven’t caught on by now, Auston and I are pride whores. With so many European prides to go to, we’re like kids in a gay pride candy shop grabbing all the rainbow colored skittles and lifesavers we can find. This year, we started off pride season with our first trip to the Austrian capital of Vienna. The pride festivities in Vienna could be described much like the city itself, a little slow, a bit tranquil, and somewhat pricey (check out our Vienna budget tips to save some money), but it’s worth the time if you’re patient enough to let it reveal itself to you.
