Glorious Gran Canaria

Ok, I'm sure you all get it by now. We're going to Spain very VERY soon and we're so excited! We just can't help but share Spain-themed posts. This one is covers vacationing in Gran Canaria, the second most populated island behind Tenerife (one of our top 5 regions we want to visit in Spain) of the Canary Islands.

If you're looking for a great escape this year, whether it's a half-term break with the kids or a romantic escape to five-star luxury, the lovely island of Gran Canaria is always happy to oblige.

Most of the island's resorts huddle around the south coast, hugging the gloriously soft golden sands and sparkling turquoise seas that you'll find there, serving up a tantalising array of beautiful beaches that glitter like gold under cloudless blue skies. And if sand is your thing, don't miss the chance to visit Gran Canaria's famous sand dunes. Located close to Maspalomas, these gently undulating dunes are a protected Nature Reserve that look like a dazzling corner of the Sahara Desert, complete with camels!

If you fancy a bit of nightlife, try the neon-lit resort of Playa del Ingles, a little further along from Maspalomas. This buzzing town has a gorgeous beach that's perfect for anything from snoozing to adrenalin-pumping watersports, and as the sun goes down, this little town really heats up. Shopping centres transform into late bars and pubs, karaoke venues throw their doors open and nightclubs pulse with the latest summer tunes.

Whatever you fancy, whether it's a break with the kids or a clubbing holiday with the girls, Gran Canaria has got it all. You'll find a vast array of choice on the tour operators' websites, and this is often the best way to enjoy a stress-free escape – far from the hassle of organising flights or haggling with airport taxis! Take Thomas Cook for instance. You'll find all sorts of breaks, from Thomas Cook family holidays to adults-only escapes, and there's always a great discount or special offer to seal the deal.

So whichever resort takes your fancy and whatever you choose to do, Gran Canaria is a beach-lover's delight that never fails to impress.
