In most of the countries we've visited we've been able to pick up a few words or phrases of the local language to help us get by. Twi is that local language in Accra. Try as we may, we did not pick up much Twi. I think part of the problem is that we're visual learners and it helps to see the word written. However, nearly everything in Accra is written in English which is the official language. Even though socially, everyone speaks Twi.

Anyway, during the Street Library one day, Auston and I finally saw a book written in Twi for the first time. As we spend most of our time at the library helping the kids read English, it seemed only fair that they should help us read Twi. Here's his attempt…
